Liquid Converters — Cups to Grams
Liquids are not all the same weight. Select any liquid for an accurate cups-to-grams conversion.
Why Liquids Don't All Weigh the Same
A common misconception is that 1 cup of any liquid = 240 grams. This is only approximately true for water. Denser liquids like honey (340g per cup) or condensed milk (306g per cup) weigh significantly more. Lighter liquids and oils like coconut oil (218g) weigh less.
The difference comes from density — how tightly the molecules are packed. Water has a density of 1g/mL. Honey is about 1.4g/mL. Coconut oil is about 0.92g/mL.
Cups to mL vs Cups to Grams
For liquid volume (like when cooking pasta or making drinks), cups-to-mL is what you need. For baking where you need precise weight, cups-to-grams accounts for the density of the specific liquid you're using.
All converters on this page support both weight (grams) and volume (mL) output so you can choose what works for your recipe.
